Point Suite Art Book Launch

December 9th: After crossing nearly 9 avenues and 26 streets, I arrived at the company launch party for Active Ideas Production celebrating the release of their Point Suite Art Book. The book is a compilation of works by a multitude of artists in a variety of mediums, from paintings and watercolors to sculptures and photography.

I walked into Mr. West and immediately knew that the party was a success because it was packed wall to wall.  Mr. West is an even smaller space than its former Opus 22 (where I threw a fabulous party a year and a half ago; you shoulda been there).  Great that it was packed with so many artists, friends, and supporters of the book!

Annika Conner and Nicholas Papadikas are the brains behind this endeavor, with 2 years of grueling planning to reach this point.  After estabilishing Active Ideas, which required intensive research in legal matters for copyright issues and corporation information, they began their tour of reaching out to prospective artists.  Annika met with artists both locally and abroad, including Paris, London, and Spain, and Nicholas dealt with editing all the materials, press releases, and scrutinizing all the finest details.

I spoke with a few of the artists: the first, Chad Griffin of Chicago whose passion lies in painting but also does web design and photography (check out his art and media sites); and next to him in a dapper hat, Jason Peters, who specializes in sculptures by using ordinary objects – such as chairs, tires, and buckets - and contorting them in extraordinary ways.  Along with the other featured artists, they have fantastic visions that they bring to life in their own creative ways, and Point Suite aims to showcase a few of these great works of today.

Guests enjoyed the G’Vine Gin sponsored open bar, and were given a copy of From Here Until Tomorrow, an array of Annika Conner’s watercolor works.  Point Suite Art Book will be sold in a few select stores, or at Amazon.com.

Yours,
Von
