Struggling for Valentine’s Day ideas?  Indulge your your sweetie at these various chocolate events taking place from February 8th through the 14th!

Chocolate & I, New York is all about discovering and experience the world of chocolate, with professionals in the industry teaching their tricks of the trade.  With tastings, of course!  While we recommend all of the free events because, well, they’re free, we recommend the following ticketed events for an extra special experience:

1.)  For the science nerds:

Chemistry of Love
Pairing presented by Roni-Sue’s Chocolates and Saxelby Cheesemongers
Monday, February 8th, 2010 – 7:00 to 9:00pm, $45 advance

Have you ever wondered why cheese and chocolate seem to put you in the mood? Well, they both contain phenylethylamine (PEA), a compound releasing endorphins into the brain and producing a mild feeling of euphoria, similar to the sensation of being in love. Rhonda Kave from Roni-Sue’s Chocolates and Anne Saxelby from Saxelby Cheesemongers will share with you some of these good feelings as you will taste their best sweet and savoury selections of the moment!

2.)  For the comedians:

Save The World Through Silliness & Chocolate
Tasting presented by Fine & Raw
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm, $35 advance

NYChocolatier Daniel Sklaar, founder of Fine & Raw, is known for being fond of creatively intoxicating your palate by crafting raw cacao with other raw discoveries like blue agave nectar, coconut oil, and Himalayan sea salt. All his chocolates are hand made in small batches and rich in antioxidants. Special attention is given to the ingredients used, all in their natural state. Daniel has explored a myriad of places and eaten a lot of chocolate to find the finest quality cacao beans, nectars and spices. Be one of the few to experience his playful selection of the finest raw chocolate in New York City, paired with some of the most exciting and tasty local wines from New York Wine & Grape Foundation!

3.)  For those who like it haute and heavy:

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm, $35 advance

For singles only! We invite all hearts awaiting to melt to join us for a luscious cheese and chocolate fondue evening that will transport you on a journey to amusement, pleasure, gluttony, sensuality, culinary caprices and food taboos.

Chocolate & I, New York (CINY) is a platform that encourages the exchange of innovative ideas and interests through the substance of chocolate! CINY creates an environment where people will feel comfortable and challenged at the same time. CINY is an interactive experience that will allow you to share a magical moment created by NY-based chocolatiers, chefs, food experts, mixologists, and artists.

Chocolatiers will delight with creative pairings and personal stories. Chefs will blend chocolate with honey, olive oil, or cheese. Food experts will share their passion for artisanal, fairly produced, tasty and healthy food. Mixologists will enchant your palate with fresh infusions and surprising cocktails. Artists will excite your imagination with their most recent work revolving around the relationship and characteristics society attributes to chocolate and the way it affects us on a personal level.
