Tucked away in the Adirondack Mountains is a lovely town, not too far from Montreal, called Lake Placid. It is a ton full of history- as it was home to both the 1932 and 1980 Olympics. It is a town full of Olympic pride- as it hosts Ne York’s only Olympic training center, and an Olympic Museum. It is, what I believe to be, the epitome of a perfect Adirondack Mountain town. One amazing hotel nestled in this quaint
community is the truly remarkable Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa.

As you walk towards the Mirror Lake Inn you can smell the burning firewood in the air. The hotel spans seven acres on a hilltop overlooking the Adirondack high peaks and onto Mirror Lake. It almost looks like a Southern mansion on the outside, and inside is something like a movie. The hotel was built in 1883 as a private home, and opened to the public in 1924. The Inn is reminiscent of “The Great Northern” from “Twin Peaks“. The interior looks like a cabin with old fashioned checker sets, comfortable couches at every turn, 29 fireplaces throughout the inn, and stuffed animals on the wall. With a private tennis court, work-out room, indoor pool (with a 60 foot lap pool with a waterfall and panoramic views), indoor  Jacuzzi, indoor sauna, and cookies and coffee available 24/7 how could you want more?

The Mirror Lake Inn has a variety of custom packages. From March 23-25th guests were able to enjoy a Kundalini yoga weekend, which included lodging, meditation, yoga and special spa treatment pricing for participants. Yoga trainers Ana Brett & Ravi Singh, authors of 22 fitness DVDs and trainers of Olympians and celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Sting and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, led guests through this dynamic, core-strengthening style of yoga.

Let’s quickly go over some of the amenities:

-All rooms have views of the mountains and lake and most have a terrace.
-All rooms have DVD Players and IPod jacks.
-A CD of ambient music is always playing in guest room upon arrival. (such a nice touch!)
-Bath robes in every room.
-Safes in every room.
-Luxury Frette linens.
-Beds are triple sheeted.
-Bath products are by Gilchrist and Soames.
-All suites have handmade furniture by Harden.

The breakfast at the hotel is must try it along ith their other restaurants like:

The View: offers AAA Four-Diamond dining in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Executive Chef Jarrad Lang and his culinary team work closely with local and regional meat producers and cheese and vegetable to provide guests with a memorable, flavorful and healthy dining experience.
Täste Bistro and Bar: provides a bistro style menu featuring seasonal and local ingredients. It also offers the most extensive spirit list in Lake Placid as well as live music.
The Cottage: is a cozy eatery and neighborhood-style bar with a waterfront deck surrounded by fabulous views of the Adirondack high peaks on the edge of Mirror Lake. The menu features unique twists on pub-style favorites.
-Afternoon tea is served everyday in the inn’s lobby from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.

You should definitely catch late night live music at the Cottage while sipping hot chocolate by the fireplace.

One of my favorite things about the Mirror Lake Inn is their indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. The decor makes you feel like you are swimming in the outdoor of the Adirondacks. There is a wilderness theme log bride that goes over the pool and indoor waterfall.

Their onsite Spa offers everything from manicures to body treatments. Your spa services are enhanced by their plush sanctuaries accented in marble and mahogany with fireplaces, whirlpools, steam rooms and grooming areas.
