In addition to the debauchery of the nightlife and clubbing scene – for example: Hakkasan, Light, and Drai’s – there are plenty of other activities to do in Vegas, like experiencing all the spectacular shows and performance. One of the most Socially Superlative shows that we’ve seen was David Copperfield at the MGM Grand.
As you drive down the Vegas Strip, it’s difficult to miss David Copperfield‘s giant banner hanging from the outside of the MGM spanning eight floors tall and 30 rooms wide. Performing two shows nearly every night at the Hollywood Theatre, Copperfield remains one of the best performers in the world, dazzling and amazing his audience each and every time. Oprah Winfrey has even called David Copperfield “the greatest illusionist of our time,” which is no small feat.
Copperfield was already an accomplished magician by the age of twelve, when he was the invited to join the Society of American Magicians as their youngest member ever. At 16, David was an adjunct professor at New York University where he taught a course called “the Art of Magic.”
Over the years, Copperfield’s television specials have won him 21 Emmy Awards, and he holds 11 Guinness World Records, has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was knighted by the French government, and he has been named a Living Legend by the US Library of Congress. Not only has he been described by Forbes as the most commercially successful magician in history, Copperfield has so far sold 40 million tickets and grossed over $4 billion, more than any other solo entertainer in history – more than Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and even Michael Jackson.ore
Copperfield is heralded by fans as being “charismatic and charming” and “a true showman in every sense of the word.” Each act incorporates an element of storytelling and humor, but he also takes a more serious tone when he speaks about his father and the influence he had on his career and life.
The show offers a good amount of interaction from the audience, from being selected randomly to answer questions to being brought up on stage to do a dance. Be prepared!
Aside from his successful and prosperous career as a magician, one of David’s proudest achievement is Project Magic, a program that uses magic as therapy in a thousand hospitals in 30 countries worldwide. This medically-certified program motivates patients to regain their dexterity, coordination and cognitive skills by learning simple magic and sleight of hand. Additionally, when he not performing, he manages his chain of eleven islands in the Bahamas – Musha Cay and the Islands of Copperfield Bay. Can we go with next time?
