On Saturday, November 8th, 2014, Boston-based philanthropists flocked to the North Shore to attend the Peabody Essex Museum’s (PEM) DREAM Gala. Proceeds from the DREAM Gala, auction, and raffle provide the necessary support for the museum’s education, outreach and public programs.
This year’s DREAM gala celebrates art, culture and creativity and is so named because it was inspired by the world of dreams and the abstract.
The opulent black tie affair had two levels of support, including the options of a dinner and auction ticket or a dance party ticket. The decor throughout the museum’s event spaces (one for the dinner and dance party, and one for the cocktail hour for the dance only ticket holders) was really nice and only outdone by the museum’s great works of art.
This is one event where I would definitely recommend springing for the full dinner program ticket because the food and the atmosphere looked really great, and obviously, it is for a great cause.
That being said, the cocktails and libations were truly top shelf for the dance party, and after a cocktail hour, the dancing truly begun when everyone was ushered into the dinner and dancing area with a great live band setting the mood. Guests were also encouraged to explore some of the unique immersive art experiences and live entertainment taking place throughout the museum.
This year’s PEM gala appeared to be a great success by how many well-heeled patrons filled the venue to capacity. Everyone got neat party favors in the form of eye masks to help provide a restful night’s sleep, and hopefully resulted in some sweet dreams of the gala’s unique experience.
