Jay Godfrey showed his Fall 15 collection at New York Fashion Week on Valentine’s Day.
Jay Godfrey is a New York based designer who got his first shot at his dream with Hugo Boss. He started off with a business degree from Montreal’s McGill University and later went to Parson’s School of Design. A clear path of wanting to know business and design landed him an internship with Oscar de la Renta.
The designs of Jay Godfrey is based on classic tailoring techniques of Savile Row with modern silhouettes and colors that catch your eye. This collection was no exception. It was a sparse collection but a very strong presentation of who Jay Godfrey is and who he designs for. His designs are sleek, sexy and for the ultra-skinny New York woman who is into high fashion.
The colors in Jay Godfrey’s collection were grey, black, white, gold and variations of pink, passion orchid and fuchsia. The red colors of his collection got a chance to shine with the grey, black and white back drop to the color and this was the charm of his collection.
Jay Godfrey is known for his sophisticated, sexy dresses and this presentation was no different. The charcoal dresses with the fuchsia color and prints were standout pieces.
I hope next year that Jay Godfrey will have a chance to show is clothes on a runway so I can have the chance to see the clothes in action. If you are designing for the New York woman who is famous for the amount of walking we do, the clothes should be shown walking!
