With Coachella, Stagecoach, and EDC in the past, music fans all along the west coast are experiencing festival withdrawal. If you’re one of those fans who needs an open amphitheater (or the wide-open desert) to enjoy the sounds of music, you don’t have to wait for next April to roll around to get your fix. There is still fun to be had and music to be heard all along the golden coast this summer.

If you’re itching to get back into the music scene, hit up one of these top upcoming music festivals. If you’re really in the spirit, plan an epic road trip so that you can see them all. The events are spaced out just right in terms of both time and distance, making it possible for you and other gurus to hit every festival from Los Angeles to Grass Valley with ease.

HARD Fest

Kick off your end of summer music tour with Southern California’s HARD Summer Music Festival. Though this event has moved around So-Cal in past years, its commitment to bringing the latest and greatest in EDM hasn’t died off, and fans are still flocking to hear the biggest names in hip-hop and the electronic scene. Travis Scott, Marshmello, Dillon Francis, and Zeds Dead will all be headlining this year, guaranteeing a show you’re not likely to forget.

Where: Auto Club Speedway, Fontana, CA

When: Aug. 4-5

Splash House

You have a choice here: either stay in So-Cal and hang out poolside while listening to DJs get down on their turntables or take your trip up north to San Francisco to Outside Lands. If you choose to stay in So-Cal, you’re in for a music festival experience like you’ve never experienced before. Instead of a dry, desert landscape littered with tents and porta-potties, Splash House takes place at some of Palm Springs’ finest hotels. DJs Gorgon City, Louis the Child, Will Clark, Win and Woo, and dozens of others will be performing sets throughout the weekend.

Where: Palm Springs, CA

Outside Lands

If you’re looking for a little more variety and less heat, head up to San Francisco on the weekend of the 10th to Outside Lands. The Weeknd, Florence and the Machine, and Janet Jackson will be headlining at the Bay Area’s largest and longest-running music festival. In between headline shows, you can catch hipster favorite Father John Misty, moody crooner Lauv, or pop diva Carley Rae Jepsen.

The lineup consists of folk artists such as Rodney Crowell, Samantha Fish, Del McCoury Band, and Nicki Bluhm. However, music isn’t the only delight you’ll get at this tasty sounding festival. You’ll also discover good eats and plenty of shopping opportunities at this Grass Valley getaway, making it one holiday event you don’t want to miss.

If you’re missing the festival life right about now, plan a trip from So. Cal to Nor. Cal to get a little taste of all genres. Begin your month of music on a hard note with LA’s HARD Summer Music Festival and end it on a softer one with The Strawberry Festival’s folksy lineup.
