A sea of white is ready to invade NYC with Le Dîner en Blanc’s 8th Annual fête on Monday, September 17th! The pop-up dinner has become the most coveted event to attend in the U.S. and cities around the world.
This year over 130,000 people in 80 cities spanning 30 countries will attend, including 32 U.S. cities. Internationally, four cities have joined the party this year: Toowoomba (Australia), South Georgian Bay and Trois-Rivières (Canada) Madrid (Spain), as well as five new countries: Santiago (Chile), Cartagena (Colombia), Havana (Cuba), Taipei (Taiwan) and Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania). Five cities in the U.S. have been added in 2018: Charlotte, Decatur, Fort Lauderdale, Indianapolis, Memphis, and Wilmington. New York was the first city that hosted and this year also marked the 30th anniversary of the event in Paris!
Following the success of last year’s NYC event outside of Lincoln Center, everyone is on the edge of their seat wondering what location will be next. This year’s soiree will allow 6,500 guests to attend, which is the largest NY event to date!
To preserve the feeling of spontaneity and secrecy of the event, the location, which takes place in an iconic public space, is not revealed until last minute. Guests follow the rules and dress in head-to-toe white, usually with outlandish fashionable attire and meet at designated rally points. Local volunteers then guide these groups to the location, either on foot or by other organized means of transportation. Attendees bring everything they need for an over the top dinner, complete with tables, chairs, tablecloth, china and their mean for the evening.
In another exciting turn of events, Marc Forgione of Iron Chef fame, Michelin Star recognition, will be taking over the curation of the picnic baskets that can be ordered specifically for the occasion through Le Dîner en Blanc. These baskets are for those that are not looking to prepare their dinner and want to experience a menu that was made especially for the event. Forgione noted, “I’m excited to be a part of one of the biggest, most sensational events in the world. I’ve always heard that Le Dîner en Blanc is an unparalleled and revolutionary experience and I can’t wait to contribute some of my signature dishes and inventive flavors to the party!”
Champagne Jacquart and The Knot will be joining this year as the official local partners of the 8th edition of Le Dîner en Blanc in New York City in addition to Luxury Retreats, Sofitel and ONEHOPE as the 2018 Le Dîner en Blanc U.S. national partners. Linda Davis and Kaitlin Davis of The Davis Group return as the hosts for Le Dîner en Blanc – New York, along with co-hosts Christine Tripoli of Looking Glass Events Group and Peter Kohlmann of PEKO Productions.
This years event will take place September 17th and while the dinner is invitation only and previous attendees have priority, interested participants can still sign up for to be added to the waitlist at newyork.dinerenblanc.com/register.

Launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier and a handful of friends, Le Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide epicurean phenomenon. Le Dîner en Blanc – Paris now attracts over 10,000 people each year. What was a “friends and word-of-mouth only” event has grown into an international sensation celebrated on six continents. While the technology behind the event may have changed over the years, the principles fueling this fantastic event have not: guests continue to gather at a secret location for the sole purpose of sharing a gourmet meal with good friends in one of their city’s most beautiful public spaces. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Dîner en Blanc International is responsible for developing this secret posh picnic in close to 80 cities in 30 countries around the world. Each event is headed by passionate local organizers who fell in love with the concept and wanted to bring it to their city, giving this rendezvous a local flair.
