The Boston Key Gala is the signature fundraiser for the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston. Hope Lodge is a state-of-the-art facility which serves as a home-away-from-home for cancer patients traveling more than 40 miles to their outpatient treatments. Through the program there, the American Cancer Society has hosted more than 4,000 cancer patients from 49 states and seven countries for more than 131,000 nights during the past decade, plus provided thousands of rides to and from area hospitals and treatment centers.

JBarry Designs worked overtime to transform the warehouse space into an elegant event space, with guests enjoying an innovative cocktail hour and open bar followed by a sumptuous three-course meal courtesy of The Catered Affair.

Kiss 108 radio personality Billy Costa served as master of ceremonies and auctioneer for the evening, with well over $156,000 raised during the live auction alone. David Lombardo was presented with the Lombardo award memorializing his mother’s work with the Hope Lodge and American Cancer Society, with medical oncologist specializing in head-and-neck cancer, Glenn J. Hanna, M.D., also being honored for his important work.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, which was made much easier with the complimentary valet parking. For next year you will want to keep in mind that dressing for the weather is highly recommended to stave off the waterfront’s brisk breeze.
