May 5th: Despite these harsh economic climates, daily recession-speak, and shuttering of stores and shops, we are happy to tell a story of a restaurant opening:  Berimbau.

A new Brazilian bistro & lounge in the West Village, the restaurant delivers a brief getaway to another world with the latest sounds of Brazilian fusion music, serving specialty Brazilian drinks and cuisine.  The owners include past partners and promoters of Kiss & Fly, so you can bet it brings the same flair and trend-setting ambience.

Berimbau has been opened for less than two weeks, so stop in and get to know the owners personally before it gets run down with the crowd.   Tonight, Cinco de Mayo (for those of you slow on the Spanish uptake, that’s May 5th), they are hosting a meet-and-greet with the owners starting at 8:00 pm.

True to New York socialite status, they will also have a few special guests joining for the mingle: Scott & Baya from MTV’s Real World: Brooklyn; Beth Joy from CBS’s series, Greatest American Dog; Ivy Supersonic from the Ice Age Movie and notable designer of celebrity feathered hats; Jainmy Martinez of  VH1’s Viva Hollywood; and a few of the sultry Knicks Dancers!

The restaurant is too brand spankin’ new to have a website, but I suppose I should at least dole out the address:

43 Carmine St
New York, NY 10014
(212) 242-2606

Come by for some socializing and drinks!  Can someone get me a caiprihinia?
