Held at their store in Soho, it was a star-studded event with a side of beautiful guests! ELLE’s Creative Director Joe Zee mingled with the crowd, and Actress Eliza Dushku was there with a gorgeous, glowing smile as one of the most gracious hosts I’ve ever witnessed.
You may remember her as Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or more recently on Dollhouse. Unfortunately, Dollhouse was recently canceled on FOX, but let’s be honest – she’s the only reason the show went on as long as it did.
Rick Fox, retired pro basketball player (from the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers), was Dushku’s arm accessory for the night. The spotlight was on her slinky black dress with a sexily exposed back.
Fellow Socially Superlative writer, Leslie Richin, also reported for the evening:
“I was suddenly crammed (the way New Yorkers are packed on the 4,5 train during rush hour) up against Alex McCord & Simon van Kempen as we attempted to get from one part of the store to another. There was nowhere to go. I really wanted to check out a PR woman’s press sheets complete with names and photos of the expected celebrities right out of The Devil Wears Prada, preventing Meryl Streep from giving you the evil eye while waiting for you to tell her the name of the guest approaching.”
DJ’s Jamie Biden and Alexandra Richardson were manning the small DJ booth all night long next to the crowded red carpet area. The event coordinators did a superb job of hiring super hot men as the wait staff sporting dashing white suit jackets. Though the event was for shopping and looking at the new GUESS by Marciano collection, the store was too jam packed to see any of the apparel.
The hot wait staff had to navigate through the crowd to check in and retrieve coats, so despite being disgruntled and unhappy pushing their way through the clusterfuck of people, they smiled graciously. I tried to tip my guy for getting my coat, but apparently they couldn’t accept tips that evening… talk about an awkward interaction.
- Philosophy Purity facial cleanser
- essie red sparkly nail polish
- Lock & Mane hair products
- Kiss My Face facial care starter kit
- Burt’s Bees lip balm
- A handy GUESS by Marciano portable bag hook
- Dry shampoo by Oscar Blandi and Rene Furterer – Dry shampoo freaks me out, I don’t actually believe that it can clean thoroughly?
- Shadow Shields, an applique that helps you not smear eyeshadow – Really? didn’t we learn how to put on make-up in the 6th grade?
And an invite to the after party at Juliet Supper Club!
Feeling good about myself for donating (and an extra for a friend – yes, I do my part for charity events), I made a mad dash for the exit as soon as I lost sight of Eliza. On my way out, I ran into an adorable intern that asked me to sign a waiver of release for my image potentially being on TV. Huh? Apparently, members of MTV’s The City cast were there filming, making things even more crowded than necessary.
Notables in attendance included: Maurice Marciano, Whitney Port, Roxy Olin, Alejandro Blanco, Erin Kaplan, Olivia Palermo, Ramona Singer, Tinsley Mortimer, Alex Young, Anna Rose, Chaske Spencer, Mark Indelicato, Boola, Mitsue, Katrina McGhee, Mary Jimenez, Channel Ferrell and Beth Shak.
Even with a gorgeous crowd, Eliza stood out with her beaming smile and exuding charm. I can’t emphasize enough how big of a girl-crush I have on he: she definitely is deserving of any magazine cover! I hope to see more of her ass-kicking roles in the near future, but for now a fabulous cocktail party will do!
