The Editor Showcase: Health & Nutrition was much like going to a middle-school science fair. Except that it had an open wine bar,  a fabulous spread of charcuterie, artisanal cheeses and hors d’oeuvres, great product samples to take home, and took place at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.  Ok, so it was nothing like a middle-school science fair (save its line of booths in a rather stark, brightly lit conference space).

After navigating my way through the gargantuan hotel, with its pre-programed R2D2 elevator system, I was greeted by chipper representatives eager to talk up their products.   This private brand-to-press  event featured a variety of Health & Nutrition related items, ranging from homeopathic pain relieving creams, to homemade Kamut cookies, to a powdered drink mix that helps heal open wounds and injuries.

The preferred tables were, of course, the ones with the food samples, highlights being amazingly bread-like gluten free French Meadow breads and the largest array of valencia peanut butter I have ever seen (the company, Sunland, has flavors ranging from spicy cajun to dark chocolate).  I also found a new addiction in Funky Monkey, fruit snacks that are freeze dried on location in the amazon.

I left very full of information and food, that despite so few additives, was surprisingly filling!
