The celebs stole the spotlight at the beginning of the show when photographers rushed the runway to get a closer look. Front row attendees included: Michelle Trachtenberg and Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl, AnnaLynne McCord, Shantel VanSanten, Mena Suavri, Kick Kennedy, Miss Jay from America’s Next Top Model, Kathie Lee Gifford, and Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion, Fern Mallis.
The camera crew was more obnoxious than usual, heckling the stars to look their way. We’re not on the streets of LA, the paparazzi should relax! In the middle of the show there was a slight glitch in the music where there was 10 seconds of silence. Now in regalar time, 10 seconds may not seem like a lot, but in fashion show runway time, that’s a long time for awkward silence. But to relieve some tension, some of the cameramen starting singing random tunes to make up for the lack of music, creating an amusing cocophony of off-key background “music.” Thankfully, models were professional and kept the show going while the staff was quick to repair the sound.
The runway collection had a few bulky winter items – chunky sweaters, scarves, gloves, and elongated hats – that would be so great to keep warm in this New York winter. The series of short cocktail dresses made of shiny, irredescent fabric were gorgeous, both in one solid color or layering multiple bright colors together.
Layering in general was a big theme, whether layering different prints, textures, or mixed media together, and the incorporation of the thigh-high socks with the dark eyeliner added a kick of rebellious personality to the feminine styling.
