Monique Lhuillier is known for her feminine touch, which she gracefully presented over the weekend at Bryant Park in her Fall/Winter 2010 collection.
She started off the show with edgier looks, fitted cocktail dresses with great attention to detail in embellishments and trims. The suiting pieces were very stylish with great trims, but the grey tweed fabrication distracted me somewhat. My favorite is the look show up top: a simple red textured tube dress accompanied by a crocheted shrug with gems and a high collar. No need for additional accessories!
Her long, flowing gowns were clearly inspired by her wedding gown designs. If not for the color, any of the gowns would be both red carpet or church aisle appropriate. In both occassions, it is necessary to show off the delicate lace and chiffon of the dresses with lots of volume while still accentuating the form and curves of the body.
