“Put some South in yo’ mouth!”
That’s exactly what we did last night at the opening of Brother Jimmy’s in Union Square. Celebrating the opening of their 6th location (7th location, if you include their burger shack), guests enjoyed drinks, tasty food, and energetic music by DJ Ruckus spinning in one room and a live band in the other, and… karaoke?!
It was a battle of the ’90s boy bands with former 98 Degrees’ Nick Lachey and former ‘N Sync’s Joey Fatone! Ok not really, but they both made an appearance and were chummy, hamming it up with owner of Brother Jimmy’s, Josh Lebowitz.
30 Rock’s Katrina Bowden, singer Sarah Mather, and Berk Communications founder Ron Berkowitz were there enjoying the party, along with the usual “Bro J’s”-type crowd. We found a few of what seemed like displaced Murray Hill regulars having a chugging contest with Brother Jimmy’s signature Swamp Water cocktail! Served in a fishbowl with plastic gators and long colorful straws, it’s arguably a step up from shotgunning beers.
Though we say goodbye to the former Irving Mills location, it’s sure to house some good times in the near future. Check out photos in the gallery below!
