Night at the Museum – The American Museum of Natural History, that is.
On Thursday, April 15, 2010, the American Museum of Natural History held its annual Young Persons Dance. This 40-year-old tradition continues with this year’s theme, Spring Safari, sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer. Proceeds from the event go to the continuation of educational and scientific programs, which enable underprivileged children in New York City schools, attend and experience the museum annually for free.
The entrance was grand and the guests were as glam, you know, very Gossip Girl. The mood was elegant and decadence surrounded the space. In the Theodore Roosvelt Rotunda, two prehistoric dinosaurs looked over us as we sipped champagne and looked over the private auction. The temptation was big, and my guest decided to try and win me a bid. We agreed on the 3.1 Phillip Lim, carryall.
Not long after we were out bid and out tapped. It was certainly fun trying. Next year for sure, I will win. We later made our way to the Akeley Hall, where the elephants never ceases to amaze me. There we danced to the sounds of DJs Harley Viera-Newton and Cassie Coane.
As we left, we were gifted a fun cosmetics bag from Yak Pak. Inside the very appropriate Barnum’s Animal Crackers box along with a special ticket to return to the museum for free, including special exhibits.
Also in attendence to the very special dance were tons of notable celebs, including: Museum Dance Leadership Chair and socialite Tinsley Mercer Mortimer; Michelle Trachtenberg; Matthew Settle; designers Christian Cota, Christian Siriano, and Charlotte Ronson; Claire Danes; Patrick McMullan; Elizabeth Grimald; Nina Patterson; Coco Rocha; Emmy Rossum; Shiri Appleby; Ivanka Kushner; Jessica White; Julie Henderson; Sebastian Stan; Veronica Webb – among many, many more!
See you very soon, AMNH!
