Ree-OH-Ha.
That’s how you say it. Rioja is one of Spain’s premier wine making regions and the wines that are produced are “scrumptious, luscious and world class…” The kick-off event for Rioja Restaurant Week was held at Yerba Buena Perry on Perry street. Attendees had the opportunity to taste some of the delicious wines from the region.
I will admit to you that I love wine, so I’m a bit biased especially to reds. I tried four types, 3 reds and one white and my favorite was the 2004 El Coto Rioja. The white was the slightly effervescent Villa Narcissa Rioja, which capped off my tasting adventure for the evening.
Rioja Restaurant week will take place May 13-17 in New York and Chicago. Explore the wines of Rioja at 25 restaurants across New York. Each will be offering a $25 lunch or $35 dinner menu, including a glass of Rioja wine. Find out more at http://www.riojarestaurantweek.com.
It’s a great time to try out some new restaurants and sample a few delicious wines while you’re at it. You never know you may find a new favorite.
