Earlier this week at Yelo Spa, just south of Columbus Circle, Aetrex held a quietly excited event to celebrate the release of its new Berries Collection. Touted as the healthiest shoes ever developed, the kicks sport 4-way stretch fabrics and memory foam inserts, to make your feet ooh and aaah down the sidewalk.
The collection’s name refers to the berry inspired colors of the practical shoes, which the designer has taken great pains (well, not literally, as these shoes alleviate pain) to make them fashionable as well as functional. Another very cool innovation is the iStep digital foot scanner technology that Aetrex uses to custom design each pair of shoes to its wearer’s specific needs.
To complete the pampering foot experience, berry berry smoothies were served, and best of all, each attendant received a half hour foot reflexology treatment. Yelo, famous in my mind for their revolutionary napping pods, actually specializes in Ingham Style Reflexology, which facilitates equilibrium or balance throughout the body and results in a state of deep relaxation.
And in the coziness of the napping pod (I have no idea what they’re actually called, but they are perhaps the most soothing environments hidden away in midtown), it wasn’t just my feet that oohed and aahed in blissful pampering.
