The National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC-NY) held a power packed panel discussion on sports in marketing this past Wednesday at the Hearst Tower. Disney, ESPN, & ABC, along with NAMIC ,co-hosted the “More than a Game: A Look Inside the Industry of Sports & Marketing” two hour discussion.
The panelists from varying backgrounds in the sports and entertainment industry included: Steve Pamon, Leah Laplaca, Harold Bryant, Lino Garcia and Sage Steele. They offered members and guests insightful insights on the industry, communications, and the role of social media. It was asked if shows, such as OchoCinco or T.O.’s popular VH-1 reality series taint or have any impact on the sports industry. The answer was that fun publicity is good publicity.
After the Q&A the crowd mingled & networked and were treated to unlimited appetizers, wine and beverages.
NAMIC’s annual conference is coming up in September.
