Lexus’ “Darker Side of Green” debate series returns again to NYC and this time it was held the chic Bowery Hotel. In the multiple series across the different cities, Lexus brings you the “green issues” debates, where a skeptic and proponent of all things eco semantically duke it out for ultimate bragging rights for the green or dark green supremacy.
In this case, on Tuesday night, Lexus threw a cocktail –cum- debate party to celebrate and promote their latest eco-friendly luxury hybrid car: the CT 200h. The event premise featured a lively “Darker Side of Green” debate moderated by 30 Rock & SNL veteran comedian, Tracy Morgan, and music styling by DJ Harley & Cassie and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Partygoers were treated to a lighthearted discussion between Rolling Stone executive editor Eric Bates and the leading global-warming skeptic/ former policy advisor to U.K. Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley (aka Lord Monckton).
Doors opened at 8pm as the line for the event already trailed around the hotel and down the block. By 9pm, the debate started promptly and lasted for a good solid 30 minutes. Afterwards, the crowd dispersed and music styling resumed as partygoers either mingled along the outside terrace or enjoyed their cool, refreshing Patron cocktails: Patron Pomegranate, Patron Grapefruit, and Patron Pineapple inside the area.
The crowd even had the chance to view the Lexus model art installation in the VIP area. Some notable celebrities spotted in the night celebrating Darker Side of Green debate were: Michelle Trachtenberg, Rumer Willis, Tinsley Mortimer, Ewan McGregor, Dabney Mercer, and Nate Berkus.
