SEA Paddle’s 4th Annual Paddle

SEA Paddle’s 4th Annual Paddle around New York City will be an exciting, all-day event that boasts everyday athletes, celebrities and professional surfers participating in a 28-mile journey around the most famous city in the world!

While the endurance of the participants and sheer sight of the paddlers is more than impressive, SEA Paddle NYC’s mission is to provide much-needed support for important causes in the world of autism and environmental activism.

Additionally, studly model Lane Carlson, known for his campaigns with Armani, Abercrombie and Fitch and UGG, will be striping down and gearing up for this journey Hudson River with SEA Paddle NYC.

Carlson will be raising funds and awareness for various charities, including Surfer’s Environmental Alliance, Sunflower Children, and Autism Awareness. With a special connection to Sunflower Children, his role as Executive Director allows him to work towards providing disadvantaged children worldwide with the opportunity for a better life.

Check out our exclusive interview with the paddling hottie, and all the great events for SEA Paddle NYC!

Interview with Lane Carlson

Hi, Lane!  Clearly you’re a stud – but what got you into modeling in the first place?
I was discovered in a mall in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. The scout found out I was a twin and soon we were shooting our first international campaign.

What has been one of the most enjoyable modeling gigs that you’ve had?
I’ve traveled all over the world for photo shoots, but one of the most enjoyable gigs was a shoot in my hometown with my entire family. The shoot with my mom, dad, five siblings, nieces and nephews was very entertaining, to say the least! It was fun to share that experience with them.

Where has been the coolest place you’ve gotten to do a photo shoot?
Las Alamandas, Mexico.

On a personal note, what is your connection to Autism Awareness and Sunflower Children?
When I was 14, my family took on an autistic child who was facing being institutionalized. After spending a short time with her, we realized what she lacked the most was a supportive environment. She lived with our family for four years which was a remarkable experience for me at a young age. In our home she had the opportunity to prosper; she graduated high-school and now holds a job in Minnesota. In 2004, this experience led me to help form a charity which backs the value of providing a safe environment for disadvantaged children.

How did you get into paddle surfing? Isn’t that kind of a random sport?
Yes, one of my crazy friends got me into it.

What other sports and/or activities do you enjoy doing?
I am a former college baseball player. I also love volleyball, running, tennis and surfing.

I’m trying to plan my next surfing trip. Where is the best place to go?
It depends on how good you are, haha! Hit Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia one time in your life for a some great surfing.

What are some of your favorite NYC spots?  Restaurants, bars, stores – so we can stalk you.
I’ll have 3 armed body guards to look out for you at all times. No, I’m kidding…

Omen Sushi near my pad
SoHo House
Abe and Arthur’s
Barrow Street Bar to watch games
Brass Monkey
– I just discovered a clothing store in SoHo called Sean, great stuff.
