And the winner is: ME!… for the biggest hangover in nightlife.
Seriously though, Paper Magazine hosted its 6th annual Nightlife Awards on Thursday night at Hudson Hotel’s Good Units nightclub with much ado about the entertainment industry. Dubbed “the Oscars of the NY Club scene” and sponsored by Russian Standard Vodka (hence the hangover) it was nothing short of a psychedelic trip throughout the evening.
From the welcome speech by our beloved Pee-Wee Herman (“I know you are, but what am I?”) to a bizarre performance by swimsuit-clad Bridget Everett, the show snowballed into a freak show of sorts and kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Best DJ winners Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe (the fabulous electric violinist) had partiers on their feet and cheering with a sick set that nearly brought down the house. Notable guests included Patricia Field, Real Housewife of NY’s Countess Luann de Lesseps, the ubiquitous Mickey Boardman, Amanda Lepore a la Marilyn Monroe, Brad Goreski (sans Rachel Zoe of course) and Rachelle Hruska with her dog Stanley. There was a strong gay presence and the tranny costumes certainly stole the show at times… but all in all, it was one heck of a night for the city’s finest in nightlife. Party on!!
