Introducing: Beyond NYC

New York is an influential, global city.  Those of us who are lucky enough to live here understand that better than anyone.  In fact, there is great pride in offering out-of-town visitors from near or far the dinner challenge: is there a place in the world that you’ve always wanted to go, a cuisine you’ve always wanted to try?  No matter how obscure, it exists, somewhere in NYC, from the best Philly cheesesteak and authentic Louisiana Cajun spices to exotic Indian or Ethiopian dishes.  The only challenge is to find it, and then, the rewards are awesome.

What New Yorkers crave is the authentic — because (and call us spoiled) we can have it.

Yet, that appreciation for the truly authentic, and the international sensibilities that seep in, also compel New Yorkers to travel, to get in full what they’ve sampled at home.  Beyond NYC is Socially Superlative’s newest section to whet the New York trendsetter’s voracious appetite for authentic flavor and discovery.

As only Socially Superlative can, we are stepping out, beyond NYC, to places our lovely jet setters can embark on trips that will tune the senses and spirit, as well as inspire jealousy in a newly acquired mid-winter natural glow.  We will take you to events and hot-spots in other cities throughout our great U.S. of A. and adventures from other far-off destinations, all with the discerning eye of true a New Yorker.

Intrepid travel editors, Ava Fedorov and Jeffery Owens, have started the dirty work for us all.  Spending the last two months logging thousands of miles, countless wrong turns, several bug bites, a few sunburns and one missed flight, they have compiled destinations that span from St. Maarten in the Caribbean, to Koh Tao, Thailand and includes volcanoes, hot springs, lonely islands, the high desert, culinary delights and crystal blue waters lapping white sands.  And for those of you who are likely to lose your passports, we’ve got some events from nearby cities, almost as glamorous as those you’d find in our beloved New York City.  Almost.

Keep checking back at Beyond New York City and you will see what you have been dreaming of but weren’t quite sure where to place it and what to call it.  Be it the best beachside bungalow in Bali or the latest mixology den in Tribeca, you will be the first to know.
