Modern, sleek, luxurious, serene—these are adjectives you might think describe a hotel in Milan, New York, or Tokyo.  The Grand House, part of the Luxe Worldwide Hotel Collection, brings all this to the heart of Bogotá, Colombia, wrapped in a lovely Feng-Shui package.

Located in the Centro 93 district, a flourishing, well-manicured, commercial and financial center in Bogotá, The Grand House makes a perfect, hassle-free, and tranquil introduction to the bustling South American metropolis.  Designed mindfully, as all Luxe Hotels are, with modern elegance and airy open spaces that allow its guests to breath deeply and truly feel at home, whether it is business or pleasure that brought them.

Recently, a string of canceled flights made our trip to Bogotá longer and more stressful than expected. Arriving late at The Grand House, we were beyond happy to see the Jacuzzi tub awaiting us, as well as the 24-hour room service menu, that satisfied our weary bones and empty bellies.  The next morning, after a sound sleep on one of the most comfortable beds on earth, we were treated to a luscious breakfast feast at Bambu, the hotel’s chic restaurant with a menu by internationally renowned Chef, Sylvia Gast.  Of course, the coffee was amazing, too.

Energized by the great food and stiff dose of caffeine, we set off by foot to explore the neighborhood, which we happily discovered was extremely accessible from the hotel.  The upscale, Centro 93, which is centralized around street 93 (big shocker), is a nice mix of boutique shops and cute cafes overlooking tree-lined streets and small, residential parks.  For New Yorkers it provides the prefect introduction to Bogotá with just the right mix of the familiar and exotic, Colombian style.

There’s nothing like long day of exploring the long boulevards that run through the ages of colonial to art deco to modern, as they parallel between two mountain ranges.  Nothing like it, of course, unless you get to finish with an indulgent wind-down at The Grand House‘s sauna and steam bath, with a cup of traditional Colombian tea that greets you as you step out, renewed, as inviting as a terry-cloth robe.
