On Tuesday, February 8th, 2011, we were invited to Hiro Ballroom at the Maritime Hotel to celebrate the launch of Absolut Wild Tea

We love Absolut for their vodka as well as their ability to throw an awesome party (Exhibit A: Absolut Glimmer).  Despite the frigid cold that came upon us last night, the Absolut Wild Tea launch party was a huge succcess with flame dancers, a hot DJ spinning energetic music, and Wild Tea cocktails

Following the trend of spiking iced tea, Absolut took that idea and infused it into their vodka.  It’s got the sweetness from elderflower with the tang of red apple and citrus to give it a rich, fresh flavor, making it easy to mix with a variety of ingredients.  We got a sneak peak of the new flavor before the event with cocktail recipe suggestions.

Sure enough, at the launch party they came through serving the Absolut Wild Tea Gimlet (AWT with lime juice and simple syrup), Absolut Ginger Tea (AWT with ginger beer and lime), and Absolut Secret Citrus (AWT with lemon-lime soda and lime).

While the bartenders were mixing as fast and as furious as they possibly could, there was a massive crowd waiting in line.  Instead, I moseyed over to the VIP section where there was bottle service on every table.  Unfortunately, this meant that I had to mix the drink myself, which didn’t turn out quite as good.  Fortunately, AWT is easy to drink and easy to mix, so it’s pretty difficult to make it taste bad.

I made some new friends, including some venue owners who were invited to sample the new flavor.  I asked if they were going to stock AWT in their bars from now on, and most gave a non-committal, “Why not?”  But they way they were downing those drinks, I feel that they were pretty convinced it’s a delicious new product.  After all, actions speak louder than words.
