“Barbie, you are the only doll for me!”

On Sunday, February 13th, 2011, Ken made one last-ditch effort to woo back Barbie right before Valentine’s Day.

At Christie’s Auction House as the setting, Ken surprised us all with a backdrop of Post-War & Contemporary art, and a promise of fun-filled dates with stud in high-fashion attire.  The menswear was presented to us in the form of live, incredibly charming Ken dolls.

Winter Date Ken was all bundled up and ready to cuddle in Billy Reid, and we can look forward to the spring with Picnic Date Ken in Michael Bastian.  For the ladies that want a slightly rebellious man, Concert Date Ken and his rock-and-roll attitude was dressed in Nicholas KFormal Date Ken was dressed in a slim-fit Simon Spurr suit with a box of Godiva chocolates – so sweet!  Super studly Beach Date Ken was ready to surf and tan in Yigal Azrouël.

But my favorite Ken doll of the night was Movie Date Ken dressed in Robert Geller.  Just look at how adorable he is!

Oh, that killer smile.

It’s a wonder why Barbie broke up with Ken in the first place.  Their love initially blossomed in 1961, but with the strain of modern day gender role transformations, they broke up in 2004 to spend “some quality time apart.”

But yesterday on Valentine’s Day, we were shared the exciting news that she has taken him back!  Not without earning it, of course.  In the past few weeks, Ken winked at Barbie on Match.com, then designed a custom cupcake from Magnolia Bakery (which was shared with guests at the presentation), and declared his undying love for her on various ads and billboards, Us Weekly and on the Jumbotron in Times Square!

The happy reunited couple is sharing the news on their website, www.BarbieandKen.com, with even more photos and news on how they got back together this Valentine’s Day.  You can keep up with the celebrity couple on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

They may be plastic, but their love is real!

Yours,
Von
