Holy Thursday or not, there were hundreds of Jersey Shore revelers out in full force to catch a glimpse of DJ Pauly D on the 1’s and 2’s at Pacha in NYC last Thursday, April 21st, 2011.

The delay of the taping of Season 4 of Jersey Shore in Italy worked out in favor of the guidos and guidettes that showed up. It was a sea of blowouts and fist pumpers anxiously awaiting the reality show star’s arrival in the wee hours of the morning. From the looks of the crowd it seemed like this could just be another night at Karma, complete with miniskirts and neon glasses despite the windy weather outside.

As someone that is not as familiar with the Jersey Shore phenomenon as most die hard fans, I’ll be the first to admit that I assumed Pauly D was just riding on the coattails of his current fame to launch a DJ touring career that may not have been merited otherwise. I was about to be proved wrong.

It was evident when Pauly D stepped onto the DJ podium, not just from the eruption of screams and applause from the crowd below, but with the branding of his set with his DJ drop. Arriving in a DJ Pauly D letterman jacket and hat emblazoned with the word, “Dirty,” Pauly D knew exactly what Jersey Shore sayings to drop on the mic to get the crowd riled up in a synchronized fist pump frenzy.

As he scratched on the turntables, DJ Pauly D played some of the hottest tracks today in addition to some dance, rock, and hip hop throwbacks to satisfy all music fans. It was impressive that he received a shout out from DJ Class in a personalized version of, “I’m the Ish.” Does DJ Pauly D also have his own song? Oh yes he does.

As the night winded down, DJ Pauly D ended his set by announcing, “I gotta get outta here. Wanna know why? THE CABS ARE HERE.” It was definitely an enjoyable night that anyone who was lucky enough to be present will find hard to forget. Up next for Pauly D is the filming of the fourth season of Jersey Shore in Italy next month, acting as the resident DJ of The Palms starting the end of June and apparently joining 50 Cent’s G-Note Records.
