With Memorial Day weekend just a month away, it’s almost time for the official rollout of your nearly-forgotten summer wardrobe.  As you pack away your winter coats you can daydream about all the Hamptons fun you will have this summer.

We have a new pit stop for you to make along your way to the beach.  Just off Exit 41N on the Long Island Expressway, at the half-way point between NYC and the Hamptons, Philippe Jericho is giving New Yorkers a reason to get hungry with its haute take on classic Chinese fare.

Owner and Executive Chef Philippe Chow has crafted a menu that boasts a variety of traditional Chinese dishes.  Born in China, Philippe came to New York City in 1979 and started his career in the kitchen at Mr. Chow.

Backed by celebrity partners Jerome Bettis (Former Pittsburgh Steeler) and Chauncey Billups (New York Knicks), Philippe caters to a long list of celebs such as Oprah, Paul McCartney, George Clooney, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Mick Jagger and a few U.S. Presidents to boot.

I recently had the chance to stop by the swanky eatery and check out the menu firsthand.  With a chic décor of red, black and white hues and dramatic chandeliers, the energetic dining room feels like a city hotspot plucked right out of Manhattan.

My dining companion and I started right off with an obligatory after work cocktail.  The signature ‘Philippe’ martinis went down fast, and we enjoyed sharing the Crispy Duck Salad (huge portions!).  Just as all of reviews had said, the duck was sublime.  Philippe Chow was rated “Best in Chinese Food” by Zagat 2010 and “Best of the Best (Peking Duck)” by New York Magazine.

After enjoying the Sauteed Seabass and Sweet & Sour Chicken with pork fried rice (most entrees are portioned to feed 2 so we had plenty of leftovers), it was time for the best part of the meal: dessert!  Our attentive server brought out an assortment of delectables to choose from and our eyes immediately widened at the Peanut Butter Pie and Red Velvet Cake, which were the perfect ending to a fun meal.

On the way out our hospitable host showed us the cozy wine cellar that is used for group dinners… or for those who just need the best private table in the house!

Whether you’re kicking off the weekend on your way out east, or wrapping up the perfect Hamptons weekend on your way home Sunday night, Philippe by Philippe Chow is a must-stop!  Get there early to cash in on an indulgent $29 three-course dinner from the Early Dinner Menu (from 5 – 6:30pm).  And tell them Socially Superlative sent you!

Bon appétit,
