On Wednesday, June 15th, 2011, Dream Downtown opened its doors to the public with a massive party celebrating their new Meatpacking District location.

We arrived on the scene following two police cars who were called into to manage the crowd spilling onto the streets.  Unlike their smaller and more intimate private parties they’ve been hosting leading up to the big grand opening, this party ended up being one huge clusterfuck.  But a clusterfuck of beautiful party-goers and socialites, so we’re pretty okay with that.

Sant and Vikram Chatwal of Vikram Chatwal Hotels celebrated the opening of their newest success with Tao Strategic Group founders Noah Tepperberg, Jason Strauss, Marc Packer and Rich Wolf.  The day started off with a celebratory ribbon cutting by Christine Quinn and then went on through the night with a slew of celebs and VIP, including Leonardo DiCaprio (who attempted to duck through the crowd inconspicuously), Kelly Rutherford, Kimora Lee Simmons, Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, Fabolous, Christian Siriano, and Tinsley Mortimer, just to name a few.

Even the DJ line-up was star-studded, starting off with Solange Knowles and followed by Sam Ronson, Paul Sevigny, Harley Viera-Newton and Nervo.

Dream Downtown sports a beach club (yes, with real sand!) with its café, Marble Lane Restaurant and the rooftop lounge and terrace, PH-D.  The pool on the outdoor terrace on the second floor was shockingly small, but pretty cool that if you look up from the first floor in the lobby, you see the translucent pool bottom.  Perfect for skeevy pervs.

Flame throwing girls, stilt walkers, go go dancers, mermaids, and live models as candles entertained guests as we enjoyed the open bar and passed hor d’oeuvres by Chefs Ralph Scamardella and Manuel Trevino.
