“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”

The Secret Garden, Frances Hodgson Burnett

We’ve got the inside scoop on the Spring 2012 presentation of alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet, and we couldn’t be any more excited for next spring and rocking some of these bright, bold outfits!  Read on for more from our friends at A+O.

For the Spring 2012 collection for alice + olivia, Stacey Bendet fine tunes her unpredictable style and innovative thinking to create a playfully curated landscape that evokes the notion of a very secret garden. While visually striking and spontaneous, the collection also reads as romantic and free-spirited – referencing a-line shifts, miniskirts, and colors of Palm Beach in the 1960’s and a modern nod to the 1940’s for some chic sophistication – an element intrinsic to Bendet’s animated and dynamic design mantra.

“This collection is happiness. It’s playful and spirited and it speaks to what a girl wants to feel like and look like from one day to the next… sexy, chic, fun.  She has personality and so does her clothing,” says Stacey Bendet.

This season we see a real return to feminine silhouettes, embellished with sequin and crochet embroidery with an emphasis on color.  Never shying from intricate textures, the Spring capsule spotlights lush silks, light suedes, washed denim and nimble tweeds, in an ethereal palette of poppy, orange, shocking strawberry, icy blue and blush.

alice + olivia footwear enhances the collection with everything from bold wedges in bright colors, painted snakes, metallics, and sky high stilettos sprinkled with glitter and shine. This fun and fabulous element to the collection is the perfect tie-in for the alice + olivia girl.

Stacey Bendet also continues to expand her repertoire collaborating with the legendary Gene Meyer on a beautiful scarf collection.  The collection, complete with these unique accessories, evokes a lady-like glamour while staying true to the alice + olivia girl’s flirty, free-spirited style.

In this very secret garden for Spring 2012, there is truly something exciting around every corner.
