In a small space located in Manhattan’s Flatiron area, there lies a little slice of burger heaven waiting to be discovered. Fresh & Fast Burgers, which first opened its doors back in 2009, now proclaims to have a new and improved burger, curated by Master Purveyors.
Having a grand opening this month, Fresh & Fast decided to switch to an exclusive blend of beef by one of New York’s most respected meat purveyors, to make their burgers stand out of from the rest of the competitors. On January 10th, a select few from the media were invited to visit Fresh & Fast Burgers and try out their new and improved menu.
The menu is very limited and the space is small as well (only 6-8 stools are available for seating). The combo meals range from $8.99 to $11.79 – bit pricier than other burger chains, but most burgers don’t have prime beef! Fresh & Fast also offers a variety of beers and root beers as well.
I was able to pick anything off the menu however I decided to try whatever the manager recommended, so he suggested the Bacon Cheeseburger, which comes with the usual lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, bacon and the restaurant’s own secret sauce. Was it the best burger I’ve ever tasted? No. However ,the quality of the meat is better than other competitors. We also got to try their fresh French fries, which were good but again nothing special and it wasn’t the best fries I have ever tasted. Premium Idaho Russets are used to make the fresh French fries, and like all of Fresh & Fast’s products, the potatoes are delivered fresh daily.
I got to chat with the brand’s owner of Fresh and Fast, Heath Wolfson, who commented he wants the chain to expand not only throughout the city but in nationally as well (Flatiron’s is the restaurants only location for now). Wolfson has made every effort to make Fresh & Fast look and feel better. A new management team and staffing program ensure meals are made-to-order and served quickly and efficiently in four minutes or less, for the on-the-go consumer.
If you’re a lover of the classic burger and cheeseburger than stopping by Fresh & Fast is worth a try. They also have grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs as well. Be sure to stop by and try it out for yourself!
