With all the parties and other “fabulousness” taking place during fashion week it can be hard to find any meaning in it all. Luckily, along with all the self-aggrandizing fashion and celebrity during fashion week, there are also more philanthropic pursuits. This is the case with the F.A.B. (Fashion, Art, and Beauty) Fashion Week Party to benefit the Toshi Now Foundation and further their aim to provide art and entertainment scholarship opportunities for kids.

On Wednesday February 15th, 2012 the F.A.B. party at The Flatiron Hotel was hosted by Latina reality stars Lulu y Lala as DJ Nyse played to a packed house full of fashion editors, bloggers, fashionistas, and philanthropists.  Guests enjoyed drinks sponsored by Smart Water, Voli Vodka and Peroni beer while being offered beauty treatments by B Spa Bar, Helping Hands Massages, as well as anti-aging and makeup consultations. The biggest hit of the evening were the complimentary watercolor caricatures which drew a huge line.

Partygoers were entertained throughout the evening with a performance from electric violinist Sarah Charnass, and mesmerized by the belly dance show put on by Valeria Entertainment. Keeping in tune with fashion week, the décor was highlighted by live models featuring designers Sandra Baquero, Lizzy Gomez, Johnny Russia, and Christine Leitner’s lines. Non camera-shy guests and most of the models took part in some real-time philanthropy throughout the evening by recording messages to be sent to our overseas troops via Keep Tree’s innovative video-sharing site.

This was definitely one of the more entertaining fashion week parties, and the gift-bag was packed with highlights being the full-size skincare products from Priori (we’re already addicted to their AHA body scrub), snacks from Pop Chips, beauty samples from Sephora, and energy shots from Street King. The only disappointment throughout the evening was not being able to have my own caricature done since everyone else’s came out so well. Hopefully next season’s party will have more artists to cater to the high demand!

Happy Fêting,
