On Wednesday February 15, 2012, Fame rocked New York Fashion Week with their charity show combining live musical performances with haute couture to benefit Music Unites. Very pregnant Grammy Award winning chanteuse Keke Wyatt hosted the event, and looked glowing in her red body-conscious gown.
A number of reality stars were in attendance including Mob Wives’ Renee Graziano, Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Dwight Eubanks, Coco, and Breezy as well as Miss New York, Miss Teen New York and Miss New York Teen (yes, those are apparently different titles). Sticking with the reality television theme, the majority of the designers showcasing were alums of Project Runway, and musical talent were from BET, America’s Got Talent, and X Factor.
Avant-garde eyewear designer Stevi Boi (who outfits Lady Gaga and Nikki Minaj) got the show started in a big way and Project Runway designer lines Nicolina, Cotrice, Estrada, and R-Lynda put on a great show along with designers Veronica Spadaro, Nikki V, and Elena V.
What sets this fashion show apart from others (aside from the philanthropic cause) is how they incorporate live musical performances with the fashion. Many of beautiful pajama sets for women were shown. Acts from Grammy nominated Aaron Camper, Jazzy, Kimberly Nichole, Nuttin But Stringz, Shilpa, Kindra, and 4SHORE entertained guests and even provided live soundtracks for the models walking the runway. Shontelle’s featured performance of her hit song “T-Shirt” and new single “Ten to One” were lyrically superb, but a wardrobe malfunction gratuitously flashed her derriere to the crowd for the duration of the performance.
Overall, the night of fashion and music paired perfectly with the philanthropic aim to benefit Music Unites. Sponsors including Monster Energy Drinks, Bartenura Wines, Ciroc, and the Brooklyn Brewery kept guests energized for hours from the VIP Red Carpet and Cocktail Reception through the end of the show.
