Each year, New Yorkers scurry to the newsstands to pick up the Manhattan Magazine’s annual “Best of the City” issue. Its crisp pages are chock full of the latest and greatest that makes our city unique. This year, Kate Beckinsale graces the cover in all of her splendid glamour, and the namesake feature covers snippets about designers dipping their toes into swimwear (Alexander Wang, we can’t wait), the culinary darlings of our city and 1940s-inspired nightlife.
To celebrate the launch, they hosted cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres at Granduca Restaurant and Lounge, a chic two-level Italian gem sitting diagonal from the iconic Empire State Building. New Yorkers sipped expertly concocted libations made from Chivas (choice between Rob Roy, Old-Fashioned or Ward Eight) and listened to beats pulse through the lounge’s large back room, filled with magnificent black-and-white Italian architecture photographs, hinting of its original Italian counterpart, and a grand chandelier kissing the two-story ceiling.
At the end of the evening, guests were given a Manhattan Magazine tote, filled with the celebrated issue, Macanudo Cru Royale cigars, a beauty product, Pop Chips, Berocca Boost and gift certificates to Granduca.
