Rio De Keratin’s CEO Nadine Ramos presented the landmark $35 home treatment kit to a crowd including Socially Superlative’s contest winner Theresa and her daughter, as well as young ladies from the Evelyn Sachs Steiner Home for Girls. Guests sipped wine and were treated to hors d’oeuvres as well as a demonstration of the product and a live musical performance.
Gift bags included a complete version of the DIY kit, including Life is a Beach Shampoo, Take Me Away Conditioner, and the Release Yourself Keratin Treatment. A veteran of pricey at-home formaldehyde free keratin treatments, I was excited to see how the wallet-friendly Rio De Keratin version measured up. The application process itself was fairly simple, although care must be taken to apply the keratin spray in a well-ventilated area, and not to accidentally spray your face. Despite not having a flatiron that went to the recommended 450 degrees, 90 minutes after starting the process my hair was silky smooth and healthy looking.
With the spring weather looking rainy and humid, the guarantee of two months free from hair frizz is definitely enticing.
