Prime Kitchen and Bar in Huntington Harbor, Long Island hosted the fifth annual Huntington Has Taste event to 250 guests on Tuesday, June 26th, 2012. Sponsors and auction donations raised $6,000 to benefit Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank, whose mission is to bring together resources for feeding the hungry on Long Island.

Their vision: “A Hunger-Free Long Island.”

The night of fashion, food, and fun was designed to encourage support of local Huntington boutiques such as hair salons, cosmetics and fashion retailers. Their wares were adorned by real customers of the boutiques during a fashion show on Prime’s grassy knoll. This year’s event also boasted a swimwear fashion show by SkyFish Swimwear, which is co-designed by Huntington-bred Lauren C. Pratt.

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres by Prime’s Executive Chef Gregg Lauletta that were savored along with views of the sunset over Huntington Harbor from the restaurant’s elegant deck.  Opened in 2006, Prime has been featured at a luncheon for the James Beard House and is among one of the finest restaurants in New York.

Long Island Cares was founded in 1980 by the late singer and social activist, Harry Chapin. The organization provides food and support services for more than 500 community agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and child care programs.  More than just a food bank, Long Island Cares provides a broad array of programs including food drives, hunger education, job training, school tools, and a food pantry.
