It rained for a half an hour and then cleared up. Scratch that. Torrential downpour threatened the streets of New York City, drenching everything and everyone in sight for a good 40 minutes on the evening last Thursday, July 26th. But that didn’t stop 430 guests dressed in colorful garb from celebrating the launch of The Kandi Store, a new, online makeup boutique that swears by their impeccable, sleek candy-flavored colors and mineral-based beauty products that are soon to challenge the likes of MAC and Bare Escentuals.

Social Exposure Media, the PR/Events powerhouse produced the company’s launch with a Willy Wonka candy land-theme at the sexy, members-only lounge Parlor New York. “This was one of my favorite events to conceptualize,” says Social Exposure Media founder, Sally Golan. “I got to be playful, childish and girly.”

That is exactly what the event was all about, boasting delicious Kandi Girl-themed cocktails sponsored by Bong Spirit (oh yes, liquor in a bong bottle) and an elaborate candy store setup sponsored by Vivid Events. Satori Laser Hair Removal provided ladies (and body-conscious men) with laser consultations and a raffle while guests were treated to glam makeovers. After getting pampered, Kandi revelers were escorted to a glam photo booth where they were directed to be “silly and sexy”.
