As New Yorkers  gears up for the women’s US Open finals this weekend, L’Etoile Sport showcased their newest line of luxury tennis wear last Thursday night with a reception at The James hotel.  The swanky rooftop bar, dubbed The Jimmy, is undoubtedly one of SoHo’s finest views and offers a nearly 360-degree panoramic vista of downtown.

Tennis buffs and fashionistas Hannah Griswold and Yesim Philip created the line after finding it challenging to buy sophisticated yet chic apparel for the tennis courts.  They take inspiration from glam 20s French tennis stars like Suzanne Lenglen and iconic designer Azzedine Alaïa.

L’Etoile Sport promises to bring elegant style back to tennis that will take you from the court to the clubhouse.  With 12 classic pieces made with feminine lines and detailing, as well as functional materials, the new clothing line embodies the brand’s philosophy to “play all day”.

Guests luxuriated on champagne and refreshing cocktails, along with a bevy of tasty bites like mini lobster rolls and gourmet hors d’oeuvres, while enjoying a sunset over the Hudson (complete with a flyover by Obama himself!).  Once the sky went dark, the rooftop’s lap pool wall became a backdrop for a live streaming projection of the Serena Williams match that catapulted her into the finals.

The intimate reception concluded with a personal sendoff by the L’Etoile Sport team and gift bag that included custom logo’d cookies and embroidered wristbands for our next match.

Thanks for an unforgettable evening L’Etoile!

Cheers,
