The stars all aligned for the Ferragamo FNO event last Thursday. The stores front was turned into a red carpet VIP entrance allowing only the who’s who of the Ferragamo and NYC Fashion scene to be present.
Inside the store was a sparkly as the newly re-launched Swarovski store in Soho, but instead of crystals it glittered with the champagne glasses, and smiles of the event’s guests. Plenty of who were wearing Ferragamo vintage or new pieces from the forthcoming Ferragamo collection.
The event was hosted by international style icons Miroslava Duma, Elena Perminova, and Anya Ziourova, the event celebrated Massimiliano Giornetti’s Fall Winter 2012 collection along with special guests Hilary Rhoda, Maryna Linchuk, Anouck Lapere, Anna Dello Russo, Rachel Chandler Guinness, Phoebe & Annette Stephens, Maggie Betts, and Lily Kwong.
The night was complete with delicious hor d’oeuvres and appearances by NY elite, like the fabulous Shala Monroque (who, in this reviewers opinion, exuded a glow only typically seen on expectant mothers’ faces).
But the real show didn’t belong to the clothes or the VIP guests but to the Russian New Wave pop band Tesla Boy, flown in for the special event. Their tunes moved the whole room and got even the stiffest and thinnest models moving the little flesh they had on their bodies. Typically one looks to the runway to see how a piece moves, but the delight at FNO was to see these pieces move to the dynamic sound of this wonderfully captivating band.
Their lead singer danced across the stage as if he were Mick Jagger. Though they are no Rolling Stones, the band is surely set to make a significant splash in the English speaking music market very soon. Tesla Boy, remember that name.
Among the Fifth Avenue FNO events, this was surely one the average shopper would’ve found enjoyable despite its exclusivity, and that makes it worth this review and these many pictures.
