The Metropolitan Opera Young Associates celebrated the upcoming opera season recently with a preview party that wowed the young social set of New York and kicked off another exciting year of cultural arts. Set at the glamorous Revlon Bar on the Grand Tier inside the stoic opera house, guests gathered to enjoy champagne, hors d’oeuvres and performances by members of the Met’s Young Artist Development program.
We chatted with some of the host committee and learned that members enjoy special privileges such as exclusive access to events and social activities, as well as early ticketing availability for the performances that often sell out. With benefits starting at just $600 per year for introductory level, it is no wonder that the party was jam packed with fabulous 20/30 somethings who were either members or interested in joining. Added bonus: Individual members are welcome to bring a guest to all activities. That means you never have to worry about flying solo to the parties!
After a dazzling performance by two young performers (whose voices sounded more like that of a seasoned opera tenor and soprano), the evening concluded with generous door prize being raffled off. Gift baskets from Estee Lauder, crystal stemware from Baccarat, a membership to Equinox gym, and gift certificates for luxury goods were given away to the lucky winners.
Everyone was treated to fabulous gift bags filled with goodies like Michael Kors perfume, beautiful stationary from The Printery and gift cards for Artspace.com. To review the full list of benefits and join this group of dynamic young music lovers, check out their website.
