On Tuesday February 5th, a record 775 guests (including FIT alum and Real Housewives of New York’s Sonja Morgan) braved the cold to come to Cipriani 42nd Street for the 2013 Femmy Awards, the premier event in the Intimate Apparel Industry. Guests were greeted by Bellini-bearing waiters and enjoyed a great cocktail hour with delicious bites and full bar prior to being seated for a decadent three course dinner.
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kressley guest hosted while honoring Bloomingdale’s, Cosabella, and The Lenzing Group for their industry clout. Josie Natori was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award while Nordstrom subsidiary Hautelook received the Innovation Award.
The Femmy Gala is also the chief fundraiser for the Underfashion Club whose motto of “Education today for a better industry tomorrow” supports extensive scholarship awards, internships and grants (SAIG) programs. Fittingly, FIT students held their annual lingerie competition, with guests voting on three designers to win cash awards for their innovative lingerie which were on display in the hall throughout the evening.
