If there is one organization that you can see daily making the world a better place for all of us, it is the Doe Fund. The Doe Fund works to give the homeless a hand up by providing them meaningful employment along with a stable “home” environment. Those men in blue keeping the streets clean are just one of the many bright spots that the Doe Fund is responsible for.
Thursday, March 7th, the Doe Fund hosted the second annual event, Sweet: NY. The event held at the Manhattan Classic Car Club in lower Manhattan brings together a selection of NYC’s top restaurants, bakeries and spirits together for culinary treat in support of the funds own culinary arts program. The event was not to be missed. Participating restaurants included Tao, Lavo, BLT Prime, Magnolia Bakery, Smorgas, The Dalloway, Lady M Confections, Fatty Cakes, Pescatore, Hernan, West 3rd Common, City Chef Catering, The Cupcake Bartender, Terri Organic, Girasole, Kopali Organics, Orient Express and Baked by Melissa. A little tip, the Kopali organic chocolate covered cacao nibs are guilt free addiction to be embraced.
The delightful savory and sweet bites were complemented with excellent pairing of spirits from Flora Springs, Fox Run Vineyards, Spud Vodka, Great Brewers, Sierra Nevada, Smuttynose, Polaris Wines and the New York Distilling Company.
There were also a few celebrity sightings. Jessica White stole the “blue” carpet while the Real Housewives of New York and Atlanta stars Ramona Singer and Cynthia Bailey kept heads turning.
With two years in a row of great food, drinks, music and stars you would be wise to save a spot for next year’s sweet event which is sure to be a hit for the grassroots work of the Doe Fund.
