The New York City TriDelta Alumnae Chapter hosted the 4th Annual Stars & Crescent Evening to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Bowery Hotel in Manhattan. The night brought in $37,000 for the hospital, which has a daily operating cost of $1.8 million.
More than 250 TriDeltas, family, and friends joined the festivities at the Bowery Hotel, enjoying a night of complimentary cocktails, beer, and wine by Heaven Hill, Sixpoint, and Rioja, and hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Chef Ricardo Cardona of Cardona Catering and Mamajuana, Baked by Melissa, Benjamin Catering, Pie Face, and the Bowery Hotel.
VIP guests were treated to CITYSTICKS’ spirit-infused ice pops, Taittinger champagne, a wine tasting by The Lifestylings of Charles Springfield, and Hudson Whiskey tasting from Tuthilltown Spirits. New York City caterers Flavors & Cocktails provided sliders and other snacks for VIP guests, along with Italian eatery, Vapiano.
“The success of the 4th Annual Stars & Crescent Evening goes to show that there is no goal the women of the TriDelta Alumnae Chapter cannot reach. Last year, they raised nearly $29,000 for St. Jude, and have increased that amount this year by leaps and bounds,” said Marli Grossman, the event marketing representative at St. Jude/ALSAC in New York City. “We’re very excited for the future of this event, which has the potential to do wonderful things for the future of childhood cancer.”
DJ BriG spun the turntables as the flashbulbs of Robert & Kathleen Photography, Davita Aundrea and Guest of a Guest went off to capture the evening’s every delight.
Philanthropists had the opportunity to bid on spectacular silent auction and raffle items, including items and experiences from Jet Blue, Mohegan Sun, UncommonGreen, Helicopter Flight Services NYC, Hammitt Los Angeles, Urban Oyster and Adriana Trigiani, Nomaterra, Camarena Tequila, and much more!
The partnership between Delta Delta Delta and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was formed in 1999. A campaign began to raise $1 million for the Tri Delta Teen Room, which became a reality in 2005. Since then, Tri Delta has embarked on multiple missions to raise funds for St. Jude. In the four years since the birth of the Teen Room, Tri Delta helped to raise $10 million for the Patient Care Floor in the Chili’s Care Center. Soon after, the fraternity began its $15 in 5 – $15 million in five years – to name the Specialty Clinic in the Patient Care Center.
