What do you get when you gather some of New York City’s most colorful personalities with a vibrate fashion collection all under one roof? A fashion-fueled evening that is truly one of a kind.
Joe Fresh, the Canadian-born fashion brand known for its fresh style and affordable prices, celebrated the one-year anniversary of its flagship store at 510 Fifth Avenue on Wednesday night. Among the familiar faces to show up for the party were the brand’s Creative Director Joe Mimran, ONE Model Management’s Scott Lipps, singer/songwriter Devonté Hynes, Vogue contributing editor Lynn Yaeger, and stylist/blogger Kelly Framel.
The evening kicked off with light appetizers and cocktails, meanwhile an uber fashionable crowd mingled to the sounds of DJ Brendan Fallis and Hannah Bronfman. Guests helped themselves to a do-it-yourself bar serving an array of delicious, albeit unorthodox, drinks (think: smoked pineapple margaritas) that were poured through — of all kitchen items — a tres-chic turkey baster.
The spirit of originality carried throughout the evening; from an escalator that transformed into a walkway to the New York styleblazers serving as the show’s runway models, Joe Fresh put on a live presentation of its Spring/Summer 2013 collection that was far from your typical sized-zero, amazon catwalk. That’s not to say that the chosen ensemble — a mix of hip writers, stylists, artists, fashion experts and DJs — was not an interesting choice. Each brought their own panache to the floor with style direction from TV personality and Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor, Zanna Roberts Rossi.
The kaleidoscope-themed collection was cleverly matched with each model to mimic their own vibrant personality. NYLON Magazine’s Style Editor, Dani Stahl, wore shorts and a striped top that coordinated effortlessly with the white suit and fuchsia tie worn by the Village Voice’s Michael Musto. Fashion blogger Louge “Dapper Lou” Delcy stayed true to his name in a casual blazer a straw fedora, while the AARP-friendly Advanced Style blogger, Ari Seth Cohen, went for a neon-palette cardigan and chino combo. Paper Magazine’s Mikey Boardman was pretty in pink as he playfully strutted the stairs with fashion blogger Claire Geist, who was equally rosy in a pink sweater and pants.
Other models included Kilo Kish, DJ Kitty Cash, Cory Kennedy, May Kwok, Steven Rojas, Fiona Byrne, Brandee Brown, Va$htie Kola, Peter Davis, Tracy Antonopoulos, Athena Calderone, Jordan Bradfield, Dee and Ricky Jackson.
The retailer will be celebrating the one year anniversary of its Fifth Avenue outpost in-store throughout the month of April.
