Just when we thought there couldn’t be any more reasons to love San Francisco, Wente Vineyards comes onto our radar.

A mere 40 minutes east of downtown SF, the gorgeous and expansive vineyard is the stuff of any oenophile’s dreams, including an award-winning restaurant on property that serves fresh, California, farm-to-table cuisine. As if that weren’t already enough reason to come for a visit, the vineyard also has something for history buffs: it’s the oldest, continuously operated family-owned winery in the country.

How old? Old enough to be celebrating its 130^th anniversary all this year.

And this is the type of birthday party you don’t want to miss. We can’t even begin to list all the incredible events they’ve got in the barrel (so to speak), but think culinary explorations, amazing music, wine inspired yoga, cinematic events, and of course plenty of wine tastings. We must admit that we are especially excited about their incredible showcase of independent music, The Front Porch Festival, which is taking place on August 31st. Akin to a “mini Outside Lands,” festival goers will get to experience nationally acclaimed artists from around the country while sipping world class wines in a beautiful setting.
