Last weekend, Women’s Health Magazine and The FEED Foundation teamed up to throw a beach bash that showed why the Hamptons is the only place to be in summer. Celebrating their annual charity marathon, the philanthropy shared their message with partygoers on why the RUN10FEED10 mission is so important.
Did you know that at this moment, 50 million Americans are wondering where they will get their next meal? That’s 1 in 6 children! Fighting domestic hunger is a cause that many lofty organizations talk about, but The Feed Foundation aggressively achieved their inaugural goal: last year RUN10 FEED10 raised enough money to provide over 1 million meals for hungry Americans, and they are setting the bar even higher for 2013.
The “Party Under the Stars” was hosted by Women’s Health Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Michele Promaulayko and The Feed Foundation’s creator Lauren Bush Lauren at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club. As we pulled up to the front drive, you could hear the whisper of a reggae band cooing in the wind. The venue alone was stunning, but the real showstopper was the view of the ocean and beach bonfire set up on the sand.
Guests had their choice of refreshing cocktails and savory hors d’oeuvres while perusing a vast array of exciting silent auction items. Whether you were looking to get fit, get glam or eat well, there was something for everyone to bid on. The Women’s Health Magazine team even set up a FEED pop-up shop stocked with cute tees, hoodies and shoulder bags for purchase. It was very satisfying seeing exactly how many meals your dollars were going to provide in exchange for your item.
Once the sun set and fabulous attendees such as Zosia Mamet, Taraji Henson, Kat Deluna, Rebecca Minkoff and Taryn Manning had a chance to check out the auction and FEED merchandise, everyone headed down to the beach for a good old-fashioned bonfire – complete with s’mores and sparklers. We couldn’t help but spy the lovely Kelly Rutherford and her darling children having a ball roasting marshmallows and playing in the sand. It seems the cool ocean breeze and warm candlelight glow cast a spell on everyone last Saturday.
It was hard to tear ourselves away from the perfect party as DJ Alexandra Richards provided all the right tunes to keep the mood in high gear, but we getting geared up for a big race on September 22 after all. Gotta be ready for New York City’s upcoming RUN 10FEED10 marathon!
