Third Annual All-You-Can-Eat Blue Crab Feast
September 21 & 22, 2013
Get ready for the third annual Hammer & Claws, New York City’s only authentic, all-you-can-eat Maryland blue crab feast!
At last year’s feast, thousands of guests devoured 37,500 Maryland blue crabs, steamed with 1,200 lbs. of Old Bay seasoning, cracked with 3,250 mallets and washed down with 10,000 beers from Louisiana craft brewery Abita Brewing Company. This year, in addition to all-you-can-drink Abita beer, patrons will enjoy sides such as corn-on-the-cob, house-made cornbread and classic hotdogs. New to the feast this year are a la carte options, including Gotham Project wines and peel-and-eat shrimp.
Maryland native Joshua Morgan founded Hammer & Claws in 2011 to bring New York a true taste of the blue crab feast tradition. Always steamed, never boiled, 40,000 – 50,000 live blue crabs are transported fresh from the Chesapeake Bay in custom-built trailers designed to cook approximately 500 crabs in 20 minutes. Every guest enjoys steaming-hot, Old Bay-covered crabs and sits down for an afternoon or evening of picking and eating with friends, family and fellow feasters.
