This past weekend, food lovers from all over flocked to NYC for Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, and those folks hankering for meat came to Good Units in the Hudson Hotel for Thrillist‘s BBQ & Blues event hosted by celebrity chef & Restaurant: Impossible star Robert Irvine.
15+ of NYC’s top BBQ restaurants came together to pile on the meat, some with their signature dishes and some with novel creations. Robert Irvine himself served BBQ Cannelloni, Chicarones Bar, and a side of uber salty pork skins.
The standout dish of the night was Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque’s brisket slider and burn-end baked beans by Chef Hugh Mangum. Even when we first walked by the table, we were hypnotized by the men slicing the meat and the juices flowing from the brisket. Even from a distance it looked so tender, and we dare say that it was our favorite from the entire evening.
Best presentation goes to Mable’s Smokehouse for Chefs Jeff Lutonsky and Meghan Love‘s “Smo-Cone,” a mac and cheese-filled cone topped with pulled pork.
