On Saturday, October 19th, Bostonian philanthropists came together to raise funds for the pediatric treatment efforts of Massachusetts General Hospital for Children (MGHfC) at the Museum of Fine Arts for their 14th annual Storybook Ball.
The evening started with a cocktail reception and carnival themed games where patrons had the chance to win fabulous swag from sponsors like Barney’s New York, RueLaLa, The Tannery, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Neiman Marcus, among others.
An elegant dinner followed in the main hall of the American art wing where the Harold and the Purple Crayon theme transformed the atrium into a playful purple scene and the perfect backdrop to honor the Hospitals important work in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Partygoers enjoyed premium open bar, and a full dessert buffet in addition to a delicious filet mignon dinner. The story of MassGeneral Hospital for Children’s patient and bombing survivor Jaymi Cohen was a highlight of the evening in addition to the standing ovation given to the physicians and bombing first responders in attendance. Donors then opened up their wallets in a major way, outbidding each other on extravagant live auction packages.
This well-attended formal black tie event was a highlight of the fall charity circuit for Boston society types, with hundreds of well-heeled attendees unabashedly trying their hand at silly game stations.
The evening was a huge success in raising funds for the pediatric emergency services and trauma programs at MGHfC and solemnly honored those impacted by the Marathon bombings.
