Red was the evening’s predominant gown color. To my mind, the evening’s most eye popping stand out outfit was worn by glamorous philanthropist Jean Shafiroff. Her knockout yellow tight bodiced taffeta slip supported standout round bottomed black appliqued dress absolutely made her look like a princess. Shafiroff, however, experienced a momentary forward trajectory problem as she attempted to ascend the fairy tale-esque staircase which led to the dinner area. She literally could not propel herself forward. As she locked eyes with me beseechingly, former train wreck fear aside, I almost bounded up the stairs to offer her a rescuing helping hand. Thankfully, the tuxedoed gentleman behind her took it upon himself to carry her train. Shafiroff, I am happy to report, then was able to ascend radiating elegance via her yellow poof sartorial perfection confection. She did not loose a glass slipper. I did not fall through the window glass. Hence, the for me some enchanted evening Gala cocktail reception was a great success!
